With the internet flooded with recipes for healthy ice creams, sweets, and everything imaginable, I have spent countless hours in the kitchen believing that I could finally enjoy my favorite sweets without guilt… But most of the time, the result was light-years away from the sweet and tasty temptation I had dreamed of…

As if that wasn’t enough, with every attempt, I had my little chef complaining, ‘Mom, this is not sweet!’. Until I discovered this recipe for waffles in the air fryer, without sugar and flour! A recipe that contains no sugar and flour at all and yet is fantastic! With the healthiest ingredients we always have in our pantry, this recipe.

In their classic version, waffles are prepared with butter, sugar, flour, and milk. To enjoy them without a caloric burden in our daily routine, we replace the ingredients of the basic recipe in the following way:

  • Butter: To avoid unnecessary fats, we replace it with low-fat Greek yogurt.
  • Flour: Instead of traditional flour, we use oat flour. In case it’s not readily available, we can prepare our oat flour by putting oat flakes in a blender and grinding until it becomes a powder.
  • Sugar: As a sweetener, we use either maple syrup or honey in our recipe.

For baking, you’ll need a special silicone waffle mold suitable for the air fryer or oven. After lightly greasing it with olive oil or coconut oil, bake the waffles in the air fryer at 180°C for 10 minutes.

In their healthiest version, serve the waffles with honey, cinnamon, and seasonal fruits for a complete and calorically balanced breakfast.

Alternatively, you can serve them with melted chocolate, banana, and garnish with sugar-free cookie crumbs.”

  1. In a food processor or high-speed blender place 10 tablespoons oats and blend until they form a fine flour, stopping to stir occasionally.

  2. Place the oats flour and the baking powder in a bowl and stir.

  3. Add the remaining ingredients and stir until all the ingredients are incorporated.

  4. Preheat your air fryer to 180C.

  5. Spray lightly with olive oil or coconut oil a waffles mould and pour in the mixture.

  6. Cook for 8’, flip the waffles over and cook for another 2’.

  7. Add the toppings of your choice.
