The most delicious winter superfood ready in just under 20'!
For those who have tried them, Air Fryer roasted chestnuts rival the taste of chestnuts in the fireplace! With the same texture and a similar (if not even better) flavor, it's the easiest way to enjoy your favorite winter snack!
So, keep the flavor, and if you want, the lit fireplace, but without the difficulty of roasting them! There's no need to search for grilling grates anymore or prepare charcoal or constantly turn them. Having tried several variations of chestnuts in the Air Fryer, the following method is by far the easiest and most enjoyable. Roasted chestnuts can be enjoyed either as a quick and nutritious snack or as a base for countless savory or sweet recipes.
Make vertical cuts on the chestnuts on both sides. Sprinkle salt at the points where you made the cuts if you intend to consume them as a snack or as an ingredient for a savory recipe. Otherwise, skip this step.
Note: Despite what many recipes may say, never boil chestnuts before roasting them in the air fryer. Boiling alters their taste and texture. Just as you wouldn't boil them before roasting them in a fireplace, the same goes for this method.
Place the chestnuts on the rack and roast in a preheated air fryer at 190°C for 15-20 minutes, stirring them in between. The chestnuts are ready when their shells have opened, and the insides have taken on the characteristic golden color. It's advisable to avoid using oil or a tray to allow free air circulation and achieve quick and uniform roasting.
Let the chestnuts cool for a bit, then peel them. Lightly press with your hands to make the process easier without ruining their shape.
