"Why cook a whole chicken in the air fryer instead of the oven?" . This is one of the typical questions that is constantly asked about cooking a whole chicken in the air fryer. The answer is very simple: because it's ready in almost half the time, and the result is so much better!

For many, roasted chicken is associated with leisurely Sunday meals when we have the time to spend more time in the kitchen. Now, we can enjoy it with our air fryer even on the busiest days. With less than 5 minutes preparation and 60 minutes cooking, we prepare the crispiest and juiciest chicken!

In this recipe, we enjoy it in its best version, glazed with honey and mustard to get the crispiest skin and filled with lemon, garlic, and rosemary to release aromas that will enchant you!

The process is straightforward. We prepare our chicken just as we would for roasting in the classic oven. After seasoning, we place it in the air fryer with the breast side down to prevent drying out and bake at 190°C for 30 minutes. We then flip it to the other side and bake for an additional 25 minutes.

The cooking time may vary depending on the brand and type of air fryer used and the weight of the chicken. To ensure your chicken is cooked properly, you can use a kitchen thermometer. For safe consumption, the temperature at the thickest part should be above 75°C.

Juicy air fryer whole chicken with a crispy crust glazed with honey and mustard, and irresistible aromas of lemon and rosemary, ready in less than 60 minutes!
Ingredients
    For the whole chicken
  • 2 kg chicken (whole)
  • 1 lemon
  • 2 stick rosemary
  • 5 clove garlic (peeled whole)
  • salt
  • pepper
  • For the honey & mustard glaze
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 lemon (juice)
Instructions
  1. Rub the chicken with salt and pepper.

  2. Preheat your air fryer to 190C and cook with the breast side down for 30'.

  3. Flip over and cook for another 25'.

  4. Serve with French fries, grilled vegetables or mashed potatoes.
